<- flow-system study area
A small-scale groun-water flow-system study was conducted in an agricultural setting within the Great Valley Carbonate subunit in the Muddy Creek watershed near Mount Clinton, VA. Sixteen shallow wells (less than 100 feet deep) were sampled in regolith or shallow bedrock; 3 addittional wells were installed but remained dry and so were not sampled. Seven drive points were sampled. In addition, 5 streamwater-sampling sites were established. Each well, drive point, and stream site was sampled at least once, and some were sampled as many as ten times. Sampling was conducted over two growing seasons, from the spring of 1994 through the summer of 1995.
Ten domestic-supply wells were sampled within the Muddy Creek watershed to serve as an intermediate scale between the fine scale flow-path study and the larger scale of the Great Valley Carbonate subunit.
