Information on stream-gaging stations operated for the Baltimore Ecosystem Study may be found at the USGS project home page.
Data collected by USGS at these and other historical stations are available from the National Water Information System (NWIS). Data are generally posted once per year after they are reviewed and validated for each Water Year (October 1 to September 30). Unit Values data (5 or 15-minute discrete record) are not available through NWIS and are linked below because they are required for detailed watershed analyses. Final data have been reviewed and validated, and are generally updated within 6-months following the end of a Water Year. However, Unit Values data may not be valid during periods of estimated streamflow, which are indicated by a streamflow value qualification code of "e" in the Daily Values data.
Data are provided in zipped files but may still be several 100K bytes or more in size. Unzipped files require up to 2M bytes or more of memory. Data files include the full period of record or as much data as are available in electronic form (Unit Values are not provided before 1995). Provisional Data are for the current year and are posted more frequently, but are subject to revision after review.
USGS stream-gaging stations are operated in cooperation with local, state, and federal agencies, including financial support.
